Legislative Report Highlights IEPI Successes for 2016-17
The California Community Colleges Board of Governors recently submitted its annual legislative report on the Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI) to the California Governor’s Office. The report reviews and summarizes IEPI’s efforts to improve student outcomes and advance the effective practices of the California Community Colleges.
Highlights include a look at the success of IEPI’s Partnership Resource Teams; the launch of the new Professional Learning Network website; improved communication strategies and procedures; and the Initiative’s ongoing partnership with the California Conservation Corps and Currently and Formerly Incarcerated Students.
Of particular note is the popularity of the 32 IEPI-sponsored professional development workshops that were offered during the 2016-17 fiscal year. With more than 2,955 total attendees representing all 114 California community colleges, the workshops reached 77 percent capacity on average, with 12 of them reaching an enrollment of 90 percent capacity or greater.
Although IEPI is only in its fourth year, the report suggests that it is already making a significant difference in helping California’s 114 colleges and 72 districts recalibrate after many years of fiscal drought. Indeed, IEPI will continue to drive innovation and transformational change at California community colleges in 2018.
